Julian is active as a pianist/keyboardist in the vicinity of Vancouver, British Columbia, and found his passion for music at an early age. His piano style combines elements of pop, jazz, hip-hop, funk, latin, blues, gospel and folk - and results in a fresh approach to music new and old. Julian's secondary instruments include voice, guitar, percussion and organ; he holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Capilano College as well as a Grade 10 Piano Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
A manager of information systems with the Greater Vancouver YMCA, Julian can be found laying down a groove with the hip-hop group Melloblack and the Collective, emulating Oscar Peterson/Billy Joel at local cocktail receptions and weddings, and accompanying choirs in his community.
Eaglewing Music
Eaglewing Music was created by Julian Pattison in 1999 to promote his creative expression through music - his current involvement focusses primarily towards the development of new music, as well as providing music resources for congregations and groups within the United Church of Canada.
Within the past fifteen years, Julian has become a music resource to congregations and special events within the church. During that time, he has been involved both as a music leader and as a consultant for local, regional and national events; he has worked with musicians such as Geordie Roberts, Janet Warren, Bryn Nixon, Linnea Good, Bruce Harding and Ron Klusmeier. Julian's compositions are quickly making their way across Canada, and several of these tunes have been included in the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum as well as More Voices, the supplement to the United Church of Canada hymnary.
Julian is a founding member of the musical group rEvolve, and continues to be a popular choice for on-call music opportunities within British Columbia and beyond.
